Do you constantly find yourself checking and refreshing your Facebook page? Feel that every thing you do or see needs to be tweeted? Record your whole life for YouTube? You may be suffering from a case of SMA or Social Media Addiction. Here are some signs and symptoms to tell you if you or someone you know is suffering from SMA.

1. Do you feel the pressure in the back of your neck to see if your friend Steve is going out tonight? What about looking at the newest pictures of Michelle’s new dress? How many times a day do you check your Facebook? Once or twice a day is not big and nothing to worry about, but any more then twenty times a day could be a sign of addiction. Ignore that pressure and check only two to five times a day.

2. Status updates every five seconds! Updating your status is good for telling your friends what your doing, but telling the world your life story 150 words at a time is too much. Keep your self from updating more then once per a day, and you’ll be safe from addiction.

3. FarmVille. Just say no.

4. Do you lose sleep, scrolling the news feed on Facebook? What time do you go to sleep at night? if your keeping yourself up playing around on social media then you are in danger of serious addiction. The consequences of losing sleep bleed through into your work, family, and personnel time and can cause higher levels of stress then needed. Do yourself a favor, get off the internet and get some rest.

5. The top sign that your an addict is the amount of time you spend on social media. If you log past an hour a day then you are looking at addiction dead in the eyes.

There you have it, the top signs of addiction. Social Media Addiction is no laughing matter and has been the cause of numerous cases of violence and slews of divorces. After reading this do you feel a prickly feeling at the back of your neck? Have you checked your status lately?
