Benefits of Anxiety

Why Are Positives Important?
Anxiety is a very cyclical condition.
A lot of anxiety sufferers eventually become anxious just about being anxious. This is because they focus on the negative aspects of anxiety – the aspects which are widely published online and in print – which makes it hard for them to break that vicious cycle and overcome their condition.
As I discuss in the completely free e-book “11 Tips for Beating Anxiety at Home, at Work and in Public” (which can be found at http://www.preventanxietyattacks.com) I believe that developing a positive attitude is the key to overcoming anxiety and the best way to do this is to focus on the positive aspects of your life – including the positive aspects of anxiety.
Once you recognize why anxiety doesn’t have to have a negative impact on your life, it becomes easier to manage and overcome the condition.
The Positive Aspects of Anxiety
Believe it or not, there are benefits of anxiety which you can use to your advantage as an anxiety sufferer. I’m not going to lie, there are no benefits to having anxiety attacks, but being an anxious person can have a lot of positive influence on your life.
One of the key ways to overcome your anxiety is to develop a positive mental attitude (P.M.A.) It’s something I constantly reinforce on this website, but there’s also a lot of negative language because I’m talking about anxiety and its effects on your life.
So I thought, how do I help someone who’s ruled by anxiety develop a P.M.A?
Then it hit me, try to be positive and find the benefits of anxiety.
I know it’s hard to believe, but there are benefits of suffering from anxiety. Its effects can give you various qualities which can help you succeed at work and in life. So let’s discuss those benefits of anxiety, and then we’ll try to look at anxiety in a more positive light and develop a P.M.A. which is the first step to regaining control of your life.
Once you begin to see the benefits of anxiety, you’ll feel more in control of it because you’ll recognize what strengths you have because of it. The happier you feel, the calmer you feel, and thus the more likely you are to reduce your anxiety levels to a manageable level.
Conscientious
As a result of your anxiety, I bet you’re extremely conscientious. The more you worry about being late, the more likely you are to be on time whenever you’re needed to be. This makes you punctual, reliable and will help you build a good reputation at work – so it’s not all bad, is it?
Observational
As I’ve mentioned before, anxiety can cause you to desperately seek the approval of others. This will help make you more observational as you’ll notice more about the people around you in an effort to find a way to compliment them and please them. For example, if someone has a new haircut you’re more likely to notice because your subconscious will be searching for a way to make them like you… which comes in the form of a compliment about their new haircut. So your ability to observe the environment around you is a key skill which you can be proud of.
Safety
If anxiety is a reaction to a perceived (often non-existent) sense of danger, then you should be happy that you’re very unlikely to be caught off-guard. As stated, the danger is more often than not non-existent, but if there is ever danger nearby, you’re more likely to be alert to it than non-anxious people. This increased sensitivity to danger is a major benefit of anxiety and something you should be thankful for.
Self-Awareness
As most anxiety sufferers have low self-esteem, they’re normally very self aware and conscious of what they say to others. This is a highly underrated skill. I bet you’ve heard people say ‘you need to think before you speak,’ well anxiety sufferers nearly always analyze everything they say before they say it. This allows them to fit in with most social groups and, whilst they may appear quiet, they also appear likable. Another benefit of this is that anxiety sufferers are unlikely to get in trouble at work for anything they say, which again makes them reliable employees.
Confidentiality
A combination of excellent self-awareness and an eagerness to please people means that many anxiety sufferers are exceptional listeners and are easy to trust – as they’re unlikely to betray that trust because they analyse what the say before they speak. Trust me, if you’re a confidential person, then the chances are you’re a good friend and other people will recognize this in you and value your friendship because of this.
Kindness
Your ability to be kind comes from your desire to please others and your empathetic abilities. As I’ve said, most people suffering from anxiety try their best to please others, and to do this they’re more likely to offer to help other people at home and at work. This makes them both highly likable but also reliable and dependable… especially at work. So your capacity for kindness can benefit you both in your professional and personal life.
To Conclude
So the next time you’re feeling low about suffering from anxiety, remember that you have several key skills which make you a wonderful friend, great asset at work and an extremely special person. Use these benefits to be positive and it’ll help you in your battle to overcome anxiety, a battle you will win, especially if you use the tips offered at http://www.preventanxietyattacks.com
There really are benefits of anxiety!
Now you’re starting to develop a P.M.A. and are really beginning to regain control of your life.
