Whether you choose to believe it or not, being proactive is among one of the most important traits of successful people. It allows anyone, in under any circumstance, to choose what kind of life they have or will have in the future. This is a far stretch from reactive people, which in my opinion, are the exact opposite.

When you were small, you were probably taught that before you cross the street you should Stop, Look, Listen, then walk. What great advice. But were you also told to do this before making decisions? Every day in our lives we make choices like what to have for breakfast, lunch or dinner, what to wear, when to schedule appointments, what groceries or items to buy, when you will do the things on your “to do list”, what to tackle first, etc.

There are certain behaviours that are going to cause problems in a relationship and could even sabotage one from taking place, and one of those behaviours is when someone is clingy. This can appear at the start of a relationship or it can appear as a relationship develops.

Have you ever become so upset with someone like your partner or a parent and then later sat down and wondered if you were justified in your anger? We often project our feelings onto others without our conscious awareness. Did something they say make you feel particularly angry or frustrated? You might be surprised to find out that many times when you react negatively toward another person, you might not really be angry with them at all. In fact, you might actually be completely upset with yourself.

It is important to live in the moment. This is impossible to consistently do, but overall, it is a goal that most should aim for. There is only the guarantee of the present, and after that, who knows. Life is taken away so quickly and is irreplaceable, so why not live for every moment.

Back in the dark ages, when I was in school, we were given IQ tests If you scored high on them you were declared a genius, if you scored low you were sent off to a technical school where, hopefully, you would be taught something that would allow you to make money. As I have grown older, I realize that we become successful in life because of the self image that we choose.

If you have a sense that there is a lack of vision or purpose for your life, be a detective looking for clues to your purpose. Simply pay attention over the next couple of days or weeks or months. After all, the best way to find something is to look for it. But here’s the key: set a definite date by which you will decide what your purpose is and then fully commit to it.
