“What if?”

Submitted by on February 26, 2012 – 10:37 pmNo Comment

by John Cane

“What if”? was a question to be pondered in a couple articles ago.  If you read the article, did you give it much thought afterward?  If you are anything like me there is a certain amount of skepticism supported by excuses and habits that can cause me to move slowly in applying the good advice I am getting.  😉

Here’s a little exercise that if you let sink in by truthfully asking yourself  these questions, you may change what you need to change.  How would one or more of these questions affect your life for the better if you really applied them?

I’d say ‘Good luck’! but ‘luck’ is something we make for ourselves…when preparation meets opportunity.  Such is life, eh?

Our mind doesn’t know the difference between imagination and reality.

Imagine, “What if?”

  • What if you woke up tomorrow and you couldn’t remember who you were today?  How would you begin your new life?
  • What if there was a magic fairy that could take all your “problems” away?  What would you do with your clear mind?
  • What if there was a book you could go to to show you the best way to live your life?  Would you use it?
  • What if your partner started acting exactly as you would like them to act?  How would you treat them?
  • What if people loved you for you?  Would this affect your perspective?
  • What if you knew there was an answer to every question you ever had?  What answer do you need right now?
  • What if you had unlimited income?  What would you do with your free time?
  • What if everything went exactly how you would like it to happen?  How would your life go?
  • What if you left your past behind?  What would your present be like?
  • What if money wasn’t important?  What would be important to you?
  • What if you were given a choice to live anywhere you wanted to?  Where would it be and for how long?
  • What if you saw the funny side to every situation?  What would you see?
  • What if you changed your perspective to that of someone you respect and admire?  How would you feel?
  • What if you worked harder for what you need?  Would it be worth it?
  • What if you were less judgmental?  What would you do with your spare ‘thinking’ time?
  • What if you were more patient?  What can you live without?
  • What if you learned quickly from your mistakes?  What would you learn?
  • What if you knew nothing?  How would life look?
  • What if you were in charge of life?  What would you decide to change?
  • What if you knew how your behavior affects others?  Would you change?
  • What if you were given the option to live on another planet of only five people?  Would you do it?

I’m sure you can add more to this list…What if you should, could, would?
