Your chance of succeeding in just about everything you do increases when you improve self confidence. The way someone walks, talks and even smiles will show their level of self confidence. One of the most essential qualities a person can have is self confidence. It shows that you believe in your own abilities.

Low self confidence is pretty ordinary. Most folks are completely confident in one situation and are much less so in another. For example, someone may be confident in social situations with friends but be uneasy on a date. Another person might be confident in a small office meeting but feel very nervous speaking publicly in large group. We continuously find a challenge in unfamiliar circumstances that we are not sure we can handle.

To improve self confidence you must learn to believe in your abilities. You should become confident that you have the capability to succeed in anything you want to do.

A common strategy to become more self assured is to just begin to act as if you already are. Even if you are not feeling confident, put a smile on your face, walk with your head high and project a voice of authority. Many people who are insecure, step into their fear and act as if they are not. The difficulty here is that the feeling may not be a lasting one.

Another way to build confidence is to risk doing new things. The challenge of trying something new increases self confidence with each unknown experience. Every time you step into your fear, and do it anyway, you gain more confidence. The problem with this is that it can be difficult to look at your fear on your own.

Many of our great leaders accomplished what they did because they had the belief that they could. Whether you believe you can or believe you can’t, you’re right. It all comes down to your core beliefs and what you say to yourself. That’s right, self-talk.

There are several factors affecting self confidence that you cannot control. The one thing you can control is your self-talk. But first you must become aware of it. When you do, you will probably find that most of it is negative. Begin to make a conscious attempt to change those comments around so that they reflect a more positive view. For example, if you find yourself saying things like “I’m so incompetent” you can re-frame it to say instead “I’m learning something new.”

Hypnosis has long helped people who want to improve self confidence. When all else fails, it is a good alternative. Studies prove that self hypnosis is an effective tool used to increase that feeling of self confidence. Hypnosis is easy to do and it has long lasting, effective results. The simple suggestions used in hypnosis will improve your self talk. It can give you the feeling of being fearless instead of fearful.

It is important to know how hypnosis works in its’ role in improving self confidence. It is as effortless as getting into a comfortable and deeply relaxed state of mind where your subconscious mind allows and accepts suggestions. You’ll replace your negative thoughts with positive ones that help you build confidence. It isn’t about doing things you wouldn’t normally do. It’s about accepting and incorporating suggestions into your life that you want.

Low self confidence can be a huge challenge in your life. It can keep you from reaching your full potential. There are a number of things you can consciously do to improve self confidence. How will you get started?
