What if my Boyfriend broke up with Me? Can I get him Back?

You may be devastated if your boyfriend just broke up with you. If you really care about him, you probably are desperate to get him back and want to know if it is possible and the best way to proceed. Here are some suggestions:

Take some time and get to understand yourself better. Do you like the kind of person you are and what you are currently doing with your life? If the answer is no, then perhaps your ex boyfriend feels the same way. You may have thought the break up was caused by his problems or shortcomings when in fact it could be issues created by you. Take the time to honestly assess this and decide if you need to make some positive changes in your life. Even if it doesn’t get him back, you’ll be a better person for it anyway.

You may also be so desperate to get your boyfriend back that you constantly call him, or text him, or visit him. Don’t do it. Most likely he broke up with you in the first place to get some space and clear his head. Give him some room.

You should also use this time apart to not only improve yourself but to decide if you two are really meant to be a couple. You might consider dating a little bit and see how that makes you feel. If you still want him back, try to arrange for a low pressure “first” date. Keep things light and enjoyable. It might remind him just how much fun you two had together and entice him to consider getting back together. Just remember to avoid getting into an argument and casting blame at each other.

After all this, you may get a strong feeling that your ex boyfriend wants to end the relationship and move on. If that is the case then you have to stop holding on and move on yourself.

You need closure to your relationship and one of the best ways to achieve this is as follows. Write your ex boyfriend a long and honest letter expressing your feelings and how much your relationship meant. Don’t hold anything back. You can write about both the good times and the bad. Just be honest with yourself and with him. When you finish this letter, DON’T mail it!!!! You should take the letter, light a match, and burn it. This symbolically helps you to put some closure on the relationship.

The next important step is to make property exchanges. Give him back everything he gave to you. Any low cost items not worth returning should be thrown out. If there are money issues like a joint checking account or loans, try to get them sorted out and resolved as quickly as possible. Break those ties you have together and you will begin to heal that much faster.

Following this it is important for you to move on and not look back. It may have been an important chapter of your life but it’s over with now. You need to move forward and build a better life for yourself. You may want to hold on to some of the good aspects of your relationship as they may help you to build new ones later on. Just remember that for the most part, if the relationship ends it was probably meant to be. So use this opportunity to meet the new person you were ultimately destined to forge a wonderful relationship with.
