Michael Norton: How to buy happiness

Submitted by on March 1, 2013 – 12:20 amNo Comment

Michael Norton imagesVideo: Someone once said ‘time is money’. ‘Today when I was in the park walking my girlfriend’s dog, I came across a man walking to little dogs. We decided to let the dogs socialize a bit and in the process we too started talking. We talked about a number of things for a while as if we already knew each other. When we decided to part and continue walking our dogs, he said “I needed to do this” (meaning talking with me). In that moment I felt a sense of joy because I needed to do this too. From the very beginning the Universe has been about connection and empowerment. I think this video is really about how we spend our time and the ripple effect we have on others and ourselves.- John Cane/ Self Help Guides

At TEDxCambridge, Michael Norton shares fascinating research on how money can, indeed buy happiness — when you don’t spend it on yourself. Listen for surprising data on the many ways pro-social spending can benefit you, your work, and (of course) other people.
