How We Learn – Synapses and Neural Pathways

Submitted by on October 19, 2012 – 1:03 amNo Comment

Amazing video– the imagery of building a bridge to explain building and strengthening neuro-pathways.  Learning to do anything can be difficult at times (for me sometimes it’s like crossing the Atlantic), however did you notice that after you ‘get it’ it can take forever to ‘unlearn’ it?  This is a simple explanation of creating behavior changes.  This theory applies when learning anything new, whether that be physical or intellectually. What is also interesting is that by increasing the emotional experience of the thing you’re learning, you also build your neural pathways much quicker and stronger. For example, if you have a very painful experience like burning yourself, your brain will create a strong pathway to protect you from experiencing that pain again. (same with things that are very pleasurable)
